In September 2024 Groq and Aramco Digital disclosed a plan to build what they called the world's largest AI inference data center in Saudi Arabia, starting with 19,000 language processing units (LPUs) and potentially expanding to 200,000. Groq's CEO said it should be running by the end of 2024, and the cost was put in the nine-figure range with Aramco funding.
The CEO also said the site offers low-latency access to four billion people within 100 milliseconds. The partnership had been announced at LEAP 2024.
