On 25 April 2016 the then Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced Saudi Vision 2030, approved by the Council of Ministers, in a television interview with Al Arabiya. The plan aims to reduce dependence on oil and diversify the economy around three themes: a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.
Vision 2030 is the policy umbrella for the Kingdom's later technology, data and AI programs, from the technology investments of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to the national strategy of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
