Announced at LEAP 2024, Amazon Web Services (AWS) committed more than $5.3 billion (SAR 19.88 billion) to build its first infrastructure region in Saudi Arabia, initially slated for 2026. AWS confirmed at LEAP 2026 that the region is on track to launch in December 2026 with three availability zones from day one, expanding its network to 40 regions.
An IDC study commissioned by AWS estimates that AI could contribute $130 billion to the Saudi economy by 2030.
