On 21 May 2024, at IBM's Think Boston, SDAIA and IBM announced that SDAIA's Arabic large language model ALLaM is available on IBM's watsonx platform, where clients can train, tune and deploy it through watsonx.ai. ALLaM was developed by SDAIA's National Center for AI and trained on one of the largest Arabic datasets, supplemented by English content.
The announcement was made on the main stage by Esam Alwagait, director of SDAIA's National Information Center, alongside IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, and NCAI CEO Yaser Alonaizan also took part in the conference. ALLaM later reached Microsoft Azure, Hugging Face and, via HUMAIN, a commercial chat product.
