The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) unveiled the National Strategy for Data and AI (NSDAI) on 21 October 2020 at the first Global AI Summit, held virtually. Its 2030 targets include ranking among the top 15 countries in AI, attracting about SAR 75 billion (roughly $20 billion) of investment, building a pool of more than 20,000 data and AI specialists and helping create 300 startups. The strategy prioritizes health care, mobility, education, government and energy, and sets a 2020-2025 phase followed by a 2025-2030 phase of building internationally competitive capabilities.
