At LEAP 2023 Microsoft announced $2.1 billion for a hyperscale cloud in the Kingdom. It was the largest single item in the conference's headline total of about $9 billion. The company confirmed in 2026 that the resulting Saudi Arabia East Azure region, with three availability zones, will be available to customers in November 2026.
